Merry British Christmas by Balakov Merry British Christmas by Balakov
If you were to browse the array of festive cards available, you might be fooled into thinking that we in the UK are greeted with a thick blanket of snow around the end of December every year.

I have witnessed enough Christmases to know that this is not the general case, and present a more representitive meteorological scenario.

Usually this situation is absolutely correct, more's the pity.

I don't know about you, though, but Kent's currently still under a good three inches of snow!

There's still a thin layer of snow here in the Midlands, the roads are clear though. Just my look to do that photo this year when it's looking like it might be a white Christmas afterall! :-)

How did you manage to capture the raindrops? Did you setup included, flash, what?

Great picture, congrats!

I used flash, and a showerhead for the rain. The hard part was getting the best shutter speed to capture the motion of the water.

No doubt this was a tough shot! I struggle many times to be able to get the rain "just right".

Frickin' awesome tree, beautiful shot and nice moody colors. Not exactly "happy" (actually a lot more like melancholy), but interesting to not see a depiction with snow.

I feel your pain. I'm in the southern part of the US. Last year we had on short sleeves and shorts for Christmas, got a week of freezing temperatures in February, and was hot again by March. I miss the snow. lol

Haha, I think this is perfect! But we britons are always complaining about the weather, are we not? It's snowing, but it's too cold. It's sunny but it's too hot. Oh well. :D

A Merry Christmas to you, as well. Our first real snow of the year lasted less than a day. Now its all rain.
